I found my great grandfather's ol' timekeeper, a silver 1920's Omega pocketwatch with a rare 24 hour dial I inherited it many years ago, remembered it's existence one day and took an opportunity to honor it by making this shot.
I love old watches! Now, I'll start with the details striking me. In the reflection of the watch, I see a shadow which look like a man with a top hat. It's very ghostly and perfectly in tone with the picture!
If you see the left of the picture as the past and the right of the picture as the future, the progression of time is incredibly well represented.
The old rusty hinge in the past, as time degrade almost everything. The button which often represent childhood. In the future, you notice the chain, because as we become adults, we also often become the prisioner of time. Also, the money is in the future, as we must plan for the future and plans usually implie money. And then nothing, because we cannot see the future except that it will lead to death.
I can't say much about the technique since I'm not an expert in photography. The watch is the main subject and the other objects in the picture are there to tell a story, not distract from the main subject. It works for me!
